Biography
Atsushi Yamagata is a Japanese animator born on April 4, 1965 in Hokkaido. Working primarily in feature animation, Yamagata has contributed to several high-profile productions in the Japanese film industry. Among these is Spirited Away, released in 2001, where Yamagata served as Key Animation, a role typically involving detailed scene execution and adherence to the film’s visual style.
In 2010, Yamagata took on the role of Character Designer for Colorful, a film that required creating distinct and expressive designs for its animated characters. The following year, Yamagata served as Animation Director for From Up on Poppy Hill, a position focused on overseeing the consistency and quality of movement and expression across scenes.
