Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Stella worked on several notable productions. He served as a camera operator for films like "Psycho II" in 1983, "Back to the Future Part II" in 1989, and the live-action adaptation of the animated series "The Flintstones" in 1994. He also worked on Steven Spielberg's fantasy adventure "Hook" in 1991. In 1997, Stella took on the role of second unit director of photography for the thriller "Breakdown".
