René Havard was born on December 20, 1923, in Paris, France. Havard appeared in the French crime film Bob le Flambeur, released in 1956, in the role of Inspector Morin. The film, directed by Jean-Pierre Melville, is regarded as a classic of French cinema and contributed to Havard’s recognition in the industry.
In addition to acting, Havard worked as a screenwriter on the 1961 war film Taxi for Tobruk. The film is set during World War II and centers on a group of Allied soldiers stranded in the Libyan desert. Havard’s involvement in the screenplay reflects a broader engagement with the craft of filmmaking beyond acting.
