Stefan Czapsky is a cinematographer born on December 15, 1950 in Oldenburg, Germany. Working primarily in the camera department, Czapsky contributed to notable productions in the 1980s and early 1990s. Among these is After Hours, released in 1985, where Czapsky served as gaffer, assisting with lighting and electrical setups.
In 1990, Czapsky took on the role of director of photography for Edward Scissorhands, a film known for its distinctive visual style. The following year, Czapsky again worked as director of photography on Batman Returns, continuing to shape the film’s dark, stylized imagery. These credits reflect Czapsky’s involvement in crafting the visual tone of major studio films during this period.
