He began his career as a character designer, contributing to notable films such as "Grave of the Fireflies" in 1988. Kondo's talent was further recognized when he served as the key animation artist for "Porco Rosso" in 1992. His most significant role came in 1997 when he took on the position of animation director for the critically acclaimed "Princess Mononoke." Tragically, Kondo passed away on January 21, 1998. Despite his untimely death, his contributions to Japanese animation, particularly at Studio Ghibli, remain celebrated and influential.
