A.K. Hangal, a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, was born on February 1, 1917. Known for his notable roles in several films, Hangal's career spanned over two decades. He made his debut in the 1969 film 'Sara Akash' as Mr. Thakur. His breakthrough role came in the 1975 blockbuster 'Sholay', where he essayed the character of Imaam Saheb. The same year, he appeared in another significant film, 'Deewaar', playing Chander's Father. Hangal continued to deliver memorable performances in films like 'Kalyug' (1981) as Bhisham Chand, 'Sharaabi' (1984) as Meena's Blind Father, and 'Ilaaka' (1989) as School Master.
