She is best known for her collaborations with acclaimed Spanish film director Pedro Almodóvar. Maura's notable filmography includes "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" (1988), in which she portrayed Pepa, a role that brought her significant recognition. She also starred in "Ay, Carmela!" (1990) as Carmela, and provided the Spanish voice for the character in "Clouds: Letters to My Son" (2001). More recently, she appeared in "Witching & Bitching" (2013) as Graciana Barrenetxea.
