Kōdō appeared in films from an early point, with one of his earliest known roles being in The Loyal 47 Ronin in 1932, where he played a Uesugi Family Elder. He continued to work in cinema, taking on parts in films such as Stray Dog, where he portrayed an Old Landlord, and Jirocho in Disgrace, both showcasing his ability to play diverse characters.
As Kōdō aged, he continued to act, often taking on roles that suited his age, such as Gisaku, the Old Man, in Seven Samurai, and an uncredited role as The Old Fisherman in Godzilla. Kōdō passed away on January 22, 1960, leaving behind a body of…
