Rockets Redglare, born on May 8, 1949, was an American character actor known for his roles in independent cinema. He began his career in the late 1970s and early 1980s, appearing in several notable films. Redglare's first significant role was in Jim Jarmusch's debut feature, "Stranger Than Paradise" (1984), where he played a poker player. He went on to appear in Jarmusch's subsequent films, including "Down by Law" (1986) as Gig, a character based on the real-life musician and actor Tom Waits. Redglare also had a small role in Martin Scorsese's "After Hours" (1985) as an angry mob member. His distinctive appearance and unique persona made him a memorable presence in these films.
